Reaching Rishikesh


Rishikesh is well-connected by road, rail, and air.


By Road: It’s 20 km from Haridwar, 45 km from Dehradun, 223 km from Chandigarh, and 238 km from Delhi. You can either drive or take a UTC bus or private cab.


By Train: The nearest railway station is Haridwar, followed by Dehradun. From there, buses and taxis are easily available.


By Air: Dehradun’s airport is the nearest. Buses and taxis can take you to Rishikesh from the airport.


Day 1: Exploring Landmarks

- Lakshman Jhula: A 450 ft long iron suspension bridge built in 1929. It honors the mythological story of Lakshman crossing the Ganga using jute ropes.

- Bungee Jumping: Known as India’s adventure capital, Rishikesh offers bungee jumping for around INR 3550. Another thrilling option is the Flying Fox ride, which costs around INR 1800.


- Neelkanth Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this colorful temple is at an altitude of 4363 ft. Legend has it that this is where Lord Shiva consumed poison, turning his throat blue, thus earning the name "Neelkanth."


Day 3: River Rafting & Nature


Dedicate the third day to experiencing Rishikesh’s natural beauty and adventurous activities.


- River Rafting: Rishikesh is famous for river rafting. Prices range from INR 600 for a 9 km stretch to INR 2500 for 35 km. The best time for rafting is from February to June, though it closes during the monsoon.


- Neer Garh Waterfall: A beautiful waterfall located around 6 km from the main city, perfect for a short trek. Entry costs INR 40, and there are small cafes near the falls where you can enjoy a bowl of Maggi and chai.


- Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia): Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram, where The Beatles stayed for three months to learn yoga and meditation, is now a popular tourist spot. You’ll find vibrant graffiti and quotes on the walls, making it a must-visit.
